The VUMC Event Calendar offers a comprehensive list of events from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center along with its various departments that are of interest to the VUMC community and the public. The calendar was created based on a need to promote Medical Center events in an organized manner and to prevent overbooking for major events. The calendar provides an opportunity for departments to promote their events in sub calendars as well as the availability to view event dates for other departments. Users can search by date, event category, department, or keyword search to locate events of interest.

What types of events are
appropriate for posting to the VUMC Event Calendar?
Mass events open to the VUMC community are appropriate for the VUMC Event Calendar. The sub calendars will post events more specific to and hosted by the selected departments. Events must be sponsored by or in support of a VUMC school, center, institute, department, program, or recognized club or organization.
How do I submit an event to the VUMC Event Calendar?
To submit an event, click on the submit event tab and enter all the requested information. Select the calendars you would like your event to appear on along with the categories your event fits under. This will allow users to view your event when they search by category or view a specific department calendar. All events submitted for posting to the VUMC Event Calendar must detail all pertinent information, including event title, date, time, location, contact person, admission fee, etc.
When will events be posted to the VUMC Event Calendar?
Approved events will be posted to the VUMC Event Calendar within 24 hours of submission. The VUMC Event Calendar administrator reviews requests to post events periodically each weekday. If an event does not appear to meet the requirements, the person submitting the event will be notified and given information that either explains why the event cannot be posted or request for more information.
How do I change event information once an event has been posted to the VUMC Event Calendar?
The calendar administrator can resubmit previously submitted events and make any changes to the event as necessary. Contact the calendar administrator with detailed information regarding the change at calendarmc@vanderbilt.edu.
What time period will the VUMC Event Calendar cover?
The VUMC Event Calendar will list events from the current date up to two years forward. Events posted on the VUMC Event Calendar will continue to appear on the calendar for a two-year period from the date posted. Users can search for past events in the same manner as they do for upcoming events.

How does a school, administrative unit, or department establish a sub-calendar?
To make a request to set up a sub-calendar, please e-mail calendarmc@vanderbilt.edu and indicate that you would like to establish a calendar for your department. Please be sure to include your name, department, and contact information. The calendar administrator will contact you with information on training dates and details on the process to create a calendar for your department.
Who maintains or administers the established sub-calendars?
Each area designates a calendar administrator for its local sub-calendar. This person will keep the sub-calendar up to date with events hosted by their specific department. They will attend a training that will instruct them how to use and maintain their sub-calendar.
